| Just
beyond River Ridge’s residential neighborhoods is the
Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park. Bounded by the Anclote and
Pithlachascottee rivers, the park features acres of undisturbed
wetlands, natural hammock preserves, a 1.3-mile self-guided
nature trail, 8 miles of horse trails, hiking trails and a
3-mile bike path.
A nature lover’s paradise,
the park is home to such animals as deer, tortoises, wild
turkey, fox squirrels, and over 150 species of birds.
